Recently announced revisions to the ISO 15189 standards for clinical laboratories have placed a greater emphasis on patient-centric care. These changes highlight the importance of mitigating risks and adopt a less prescriptive approach to standards, allowing clinical labs greater flexibility in meeting the requirements.
The Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC) has adopted ILAC’s recommendation to give accredited laboratories and medical imaging facilities a 3-year transition period.
With effect from 01 January 2024, assessment for applicant laboratories and medical imaging facilities will be based on ISO 15189: 2022.
